Rovers have kicked off their Joma South West Challenge cup tonight with an emphatic victory over Barnstaple Town.
Billy Sharp came off the bench at half time to score a second half hat trick as Rovers hit ten goals.
Rovers took the lead in the fifth minute after the Barnstaple number five turned a mazy run by Dumbuya into his own net.
Dumbuya was causing problems down the Rovers right, after another good run and cross the ball was turned over the bar for a corner.
Rovers were enjoying most of the early possession and chances, Simon Gillett was next to go close, his shot gathered by the Barnstaple keeper.
Hayter was next to go close, his shot was excellently pushed wide for a corner by the keeper.
Shelton Martis doubled the lead from the resulting corner when he got his head to Martin Woods corner.
It was almost three soon afterwards when Hayter was once again thwarted by an excellent save.
It was soon 3-0 on 31 minutes, when Friend scored from another Rovers corner, the ball was played out to Sam Hird who found Friend in the area who scored with his head.
Simon Gillett made it 4-0 on 35 minutes as Rovers were easing to victory before half time in their first game, he drilled his shot from the right angle to give the keeper no chance.
It was almost 5-0 minutes later when a clever one-two between Coppinger and Gillett saw the ball come back off the woodwork from Coppinger`s shot.
Rovers went in at half time 4-0 and could quite easily have scored six or seven after dominating.
Billy Sharp came on at half time and quickly made it 5-0 on 51 minutes when his turn and shot beat the Barnstaple keeper.
Sharp made it six with a minute when Woods cross found the head of Sharp who made no mistake.
James Hayter seemed the only player that the Barnstaple keeper was keeping out, Hayter saw a lob tipped over the bar.
Sharp almost completed his hat trick within fifteen minutes of his introduction but was denied by a great tip over the bar by the keeper.
From the corner, the ball fell to Woods whose rasping shot just went wide of the target.
Sharp completed his hat trick halfway through the second half when Hayter saw his shot saved and Sharp was on hand to score.
Rovers scored again within a minute when Hayter finally got on the score sheet, his header beat the Barnstaple keeper after a good ball into the middle by Sharp.
Dumbuya was being a constant threat on the right hand side, after another good run the ball found Sharp who saw his shot saved.
Rovers made it 9-0 when the Barnstaple number 15 turned Coppinger`s shot into his own net.
It wasn`t long before Rovers made it 10-0 when Robbie Clark got on the score sheet in the 75th minute.
Barnstaple got a consolation goal when Woods was given no chance in the Rovers goal by a low shot.
Josh Payne almost made it eleven but his shot just went wide of the post as the game reached it`s final ten minutes.
That was the last meaningful action of the match as Rovers enjoyed a very comfortable win.
Rovers will play their final group game against Havant & Waterlooville on Wednesday night.
