DRFC O'Driscoll - Stock not for sale

Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O`Driscoll has warned Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers off club captain Brian Stock.

Rodgers has been linked with making a move for Stock who is entering the final year of his contract at the Keepmoat.

The new Swansea boss who was in charge of Reading at the start of last season was constantly linked with the Welsh international during his reign at the Madejski Stadium.

Rovers boss O`Driscoll is adamant though that Stock will be going nowhere, speaking in the Yorkshire Post, O`Driscoll said, 'I have spoken to Brendan Rodgers and told him we are not looking to sell.
'Brian is fully aware of the conversation and nothing further from Swansea has since appeared.
'He's in the last year of his contract - so it becomes a difficult time for players and clubs - but we are in the process of negotiating a new deal.'

Having spent a club record on Billy Sharp during the summer, Rovers will be looking to make a serious challenge in the Championship this season so will want to keep the best players like Brian Stock at the club.

Will Rovers be prepared to see him run his contract down and leave on a free in the summer? Would get in excess of £1 million for him which is a lot of money to lose out on to a club the size of Rovers. If he stayed and helped Rovers into the Premiership then it would be worth him leaving for nothing, but he then wouldn't want to leave.

No disrespect to Swansea but why would he want to leave Rovers who have strengthened their squad over the summer with a couple of really good signings whilst Swansea have got to get used to a new manager who did nothing at Reading and are losing a few players.
