DRFC Sharp needing surgery

Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O`Driscoll has revealed that record signing Billy Sharp is requiring surgery on a groin injury.

Speaking in the Doncaster Free Press, O`Driscoll said, 'Billy has a groin problem which is a worry. It might be that he gets through the season with it but he may have to have surgery before then. If that is the case we'll try and bring a loan signing in as cover.'

O`Driscoll will be hoping that Sharp can make it to the end of the season and find the form that made him an instant hero at the Keepmoat last season whilst on loan from Sheffield United.

Sharp scored 15 goals during his loan spell last season and his form was good enough for the club to shell out a club record 1.15 million on him.

He`s been struggling with a few little niggles since the start of the season and he has scored two goals so far, which have both come from the penalty spot.

With Hayter injured and Brooker, (well, no need to say anymore) I think Sharp will be playing through the pain. If O'Driscoll can get a player in then great, how long will Sharp be out if he has the op, about four weeks I would have thought.

That would leave us with just Fairhurst, definitely need one more in before he can have the operation.
