DRFC Woods signs new deal

Doncaster Rovers have been boosted by the news that influential midfielder Martin Woods has signed a new contract with the club.

The midfielder has put pen to paper on a new three-year deal keeping him at the club until 2013.

Woods has already been at the club three years since arriving at the Keepmoat in the summer of 2007 from Rotherham United.

The 24 year old struggled in his first season at the Keepmoat after suffering an injury early in the season and he even spent a short time on loan at Yeovil Town.

Since Rovers progression to the Championship Woods has become an integral part of the midfield.

Woods deputises for Brian Stock as captain when required and as worn the armband in Rovers last two games.

The news of Woods agreeing a new three-year deal comes hot on the heels of James Coppinger agreeing the same extension at the club.

Rovers now have just Brian Stock and James Chambers left to agree new deals who are both out of contract in the summer.

I was very worried about losing Coppinger, Woods, Stock and Chambers. Fantastic news that we have got two of them already tied to the club for another three years.

Two down two to go although I have a feeling that Stock's agent will be working on a move to another club to get his 15%
