DRFC O'Connor latest to sign new contract

James O`Connor has become the third player in a matter of weeks to put pen to paper on a new contract at the club.

The influential defender who was at the end of his current contract next summer has signed a new three-year deal keeping him at the club until 2013.

The current clubs Player of the season has played a key part in helping the club into the Championship since arriving from Bournemouth in 2006.

The versatile defender has been a first choice for boss Sean O`Driscoll since his arrival and he`s nearing 200 career games for the club.

O`Connor joins Martin Woods and James Coppinger to agree new deals in the past few weeks and only Brian Stock is left, to agree new terms, whose long-term contract finishes at the end of the season.

This is great news for Rovers to have secured the services of these three players already.

I think the Rovers management staff have done tremendous work to get these three to sign new contracts already. Also out of all the players who were out of contract in the summer only Gareth Roberts didn't accpet a new deal.
