DRFC Payne extends Oxford stay

Doncaster Rovers midfielder Josh Payne has extended his loan spell at Oxford United until the New Year.

The 19 year old only joined Rovers in the summer after being released by Premiership side West Ham United and he scored in his only start so far for Rovers, in the 2-1 defeat by Accrington in the Carling Cup.

The midfielders initial one month loan with the U`s finished after Tuesday night`s 1-1 draw at Cheltenham and the extension is seen by Rovers as giving the youngster more first team experience with the League Two side.

Since arriving at the Kassam Stadium Payne has made five starts in the Oxford midfield.

Rovers have included a 24-hour recall in the loan agreement.

Living in the Oxford area I have spoke to plenty of their fans who have been impressed with him so far.

We have plenty of options in midfield, he will be getting plenty of time on the pitch and gaining some experience at Oxford.
