DRFC Rovers hand trial to former Barnsley defender

Doncaster Rovers are giving a trial to former Barnsley defender Dennis Souza.

The Brazilian is currently contracted to Al-Saliya Sports Club who play in the Qatari Stars League, which is the top division in Qatari.

Souza is in the second week of a trial at Cantley Park but he has yet to be offered any sort of contract with the club, with boss Sean O`Driscoll admitting that he`s yet to meet with the player or his representatives.

The 6`3" central defender as already enjoyed two years in the English game having played for Barnsley between 2007-09 where he made 78 appearances.

Rovers boss, Sean O`Driscoll admits that the club have quite a few central defenders, but with so many injuries at the moment, Souza could be an option to fill the gap.

The 30 year old is a seasoned professional and as spent the vast majority of his career playing in the Belgium league.

I think we have enough at the back and with James Chambers and Wayne Thomas back in training I think we have enough cover.
