Doncaster Rovers put in a great team performance to earn a comfortable 2-0 home win over Sheffield United.
Here is how I rated the Rovers player`s performances.
Neil Sullivan 7
Never really had a hard save to make but as usual he commanded his area and used his experience well to run down the clock.
Mustapha Dumbuya 9 Star Man
This lad gets better and better; wish he`d been given more of a chance last season?
He gets forward well to help out the attack with his pace and delivers a good ball into the middle. In defence, he looks assured and very comfortable when under pressure.
Shelton Martis 6 (Adam Lockwood 76)
Never overly confident in his abilities at the back and he gives me heart palpitations at times!
Looked ok today apart from a few 'hacks` at the ball, they could have gone anywhere and usually did.
James O`Connor 8
Great to have him back at the heart of the defence after missing the midweek defeat. Another one who just gets better in a Rovers shirt and he is 'Mr consistent`, who just gets on with his job with no fuss.
Joseph Mills 8
Really impressed with this lad who as only been at the club since Tuesday after joining on loan from Southampton.
Looks good at the back and gets forward well to help out the attack. Put in some very good balls and was heavily involved in setting up Rovers second goal.
With George Friend out for around three months, I hope we can keep him until January at least.
John Oster 8
Pick of the Rovers midfielders, always seems to have plenty of time on the ball and played a great through ball to Mills when helping set up the second goal.
Brian Stock 7
Controls the centre of midfield and made the most of his time and space to set things moving. He should have done better in the second half when he shot over the bar from the edge of the area.
Martin Woods 6 (Sam Hird 84)
Didn`t look fit and must be struggling with his groin injury. Had a great chance in the first minute but put his effort just wide. He was guilty at times of giving the ball away far too cheaply.
John Coppinger 8
Had a great game, scored the first goal after good work between him and Billy Sharp. He always seemed to be involved in anything good that involved the Rovers attack.
Billy Sharp 7 (Dean Shiels 45)
Got his goal against his former club that he was hoping for. He also helped set up Coppinger for the first goal in a good performance that was brought to a premature end in injury time at the end of the first half.
James Hayter 7
He`s got a good partnership with Billy Sharp and seems happy setting up others. Lays the ball off when for others to take their chance and did well when setting up Stock in the second half.
Dean Shiels 6
Didn`t make much of an impact after replacing Sharp in attack as Rovers seemed happy to soak up any pressure that Sheffield United had to offer.
Adam Lockwood 6
Quickly made his presence felt in the Rovers defence by winning a number of headers has the visitors were looking for a way back into the game.
Sam Hird 5
Not on the pitch long enough to make any kind of impression on the game.
With all the injuries and the disappointment of the midweek defeat, Rovers bounced back well and thoroughly deserved the three points.
Rovers looked good today but thought they came up against a very poor Sheffield United side who should have been full of confidence after their recent results.
I hope the injury to Billy Sharp isn`t too serious and it looked like Shelton Martis was also holding onto his hamstring when he left the pitch.
Back in the top half and we need to build on this at Reading next week.
