DRFC Rovers hoping to bring in a striker

Sean O`Driscoll is on the lookout for a replacement for the injured Billy Sharp whilst he recovers from his hamstring injury.

The club record signing is expected to be out for at least six weeks after limping off in last weekends win over Sheffield United.

The injury leaves Rovers short of cover in the centre forward department with only James Hayter fully fit at the moment.

Steve Brooker continues to struggle for fitness after finally making his comeback at the start of this season after over eighteen months on the sidelines.

Waide Fairhurst is also unavailable as he is two weeks into a month`s loan at League Two side Southend United.

Sharp scored fifteen goals whilst on loan at the club last season and he`s already notched six this season before having to be withdrawn on the stroke of half time last week.

Doncaster Rovers chairman John Ryan who personally helped fund the £1.15 million they paid for Sharp in the summer as made funds available for O`Driscoll to find a replacement.

Speaking on Radio Sheffield, Ryan said, 'It won't be financial restrictions, it will be more the fact can he find the right player to come and play for us.
'If anyone can find do it Sean can - he came up with Jordon Mutch and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas last year.'

If O`Driscoll cannot find a suitable replacement then he may push midfielder James Coppinger who has already scored five goals this season into a more forward position.

He was saying on Yorkshire Radio tonight that he's approached a few players but they have turned him down.

Doesn't look like we are going to have anyone in for the Reading game.
