DRFC Whaley having trial at Rovers

Doncaster Rovers are giving a trial to former Preston North End midfielder Simon Whaley.

The 25 year old is currently without a club after struggling to find regular first team football over the last two years.

The winger joined League One side Norwich City from Preston in the summer of 2009, but after the sacking of manager Bryn Gunn he found himself out of the side under new manager Paul Lambert after only three appearances.

Whaley had loan spells at Rochdale and Bradford before having his contract cancelled at Carrow Road early in 2010.

He finished the season at Chesterfield but has been without a club so far this season due to a knee injury.

Rovers signed Dennis Souza yesterday pending international clearance after he enjoyed a successful trial at the Keepmoat.

He was a really good player when he first started out. Looks like he's had his problems, shocked he's still only 25.

When he was on song he looked very hard to play against on the wing. Looks like he's been dogged by injuries that as seen his career stall.
