DRFC Rovers complete Whaley signing

Doncaster Rovers have signed Simon Whaley on a non contract basis.

The winger has been enjoying a loan spell at The Keepmoat for the past week after being without a club since the end of last season.

Whaley made over 100 appearances for Preston North End before signing for Norwich City last summer, where he failed to win over new boss Paul Lambert after he arrived at the club after the sacking of Bryn Gunn.

The 25 year old will wear the number 31 for Rovers and he was an unused substitute in Saturdays 3-1 win at Portsmouth.

Its a good deal for both parties, gives Whaley a chance to get fit and if he does well he can earn himself a contract. With Rovers short of numbers at the moment it also gives them a few more options.

Its upto him now to prove he's worth a contract.
