'If It's Football, It's Vital'

DRFC O'Driscoll not ruling out Blades post

Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O`Driscoll has not ruled himself out of the running for the vacant job at Sheffield United.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, O`Driscoll said, 'There's not a lot that I can say about it that isn't going to go down the line of what every other manager says when there's speculation about his position, whether it's under threat or he gets linked with another job.

'Until something concrete happens I don't know what you're supposed to say. It's a big club with a great tradition and a good infrastructure and we're trying to get there with Doncaster, so I don't know what else to say. If an opportunity came up and I felt it was the right opportunity then you'd have to consider it.'

United are looking for a new manager after their boss Gary Speed resigned to take over the Wales national managers job this week.

The former Bournemouth manager joined Rovers in 2006 and led the club to their first domestic trophy in their history in his first season when they won the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy.

His CV was further enhanced when he took Rovers from League One in 2008 for the first time in fifty years, after they beat Leeds United in the Play off final.

They have been amongst the favourites for relegation in their three seasons since promotion but they have established themselves as a consistent Championship side who play with an excellent brand of football that as earned them the tag 'Arsenal of the north`.

Burnley came close to luring O`Driscoll to Turf Moor in January after holding talks with the Lancashire club only for him to decide to stay at Rovers.

Why would he want to move backwards ???
tINY t
Sheff Utd would have to learn how to play football on the ground and not 'hoof' it in the air all afternoon.

Firstly John Ryan will not let him go on the cheap, he proved that with Burnley last year so that probably rules Sheff Utd out. Why would he want to move to a club that are used to kicking it long, would the fans give him time to do what he did at Rovers? I doubt it. He's got job security and stability at Rovers. Don't be a silly SOD a make a backwards step.

He would be absolutely mad to walk away from Rovers and join the Blades. when he does eventually go elsewhere I am sure he can go to a bigger better club.

fact is we are a bigger club than little old donny, with a big fan base. we are all geared up for the premiership and SOD realises this. We have been on top for god knows how many years compared to other local clubs and it's been all about united for years. one bad season and its all doom and gloom. coming to sheff utd is a big step up from managing little donny and SOD realises this. Remember if he wants to come and i think he does you won't be able to stop him just like you can't stop a player from leaving a club...if he wants to go he will. SOD knows he will manage in the prem with us a hell of a lot sooner than he will with donny. we are capable of getting 32,000 week in week out and can offer SOD more money to spend and a lot more in wages to entice him to the lane. Evey blades fan wants him desperately and i think he realises this. Come on Sean you know you want to come and you will take us up next year!!!!

Is that from Division 3 Bladesforlife???

All you Donny fans, sorry about us nicking your manager, and I think all united fans really do look at how your club is run with some envy. Attractive football has more history down the lane than most S.Yorks clubs, just because we have played it in most recent year we all crave it down the lane. Wednesday was the first to bring the long ball to S.Yorks with Charlton, and then Wilkinson, with the big man up front attitude, Chapman... We then took Brain Dean from you lot and that is history.

SOD is craving to manage a bigger club like us.....he willl take us up to the prem next season......get him in bloody quick!!!
