DRFC Rovers confident of keeping O'Driscoll

DRFC Rovers confident of keeping O'Driscoll

Doncaster Rovers chief executive David Morris is confident the club can hold onto manager Sean O`Driscoll despite giving him permission to speak to Sheffield United.

Morris, speaking to the Press Association said, ''I think, right at this moment, there's a good chance Sean will remain at Doncaster Rovers.
''I'm sure Sheffield United fans and management would call that wishful thinking, but Sean is a big part of what we're trying to build here, he's proud of what we have achieved and we're hopeful he'll want to carry it on.
''There's still a lot more to achieve here and I agree with the comments of our chairman that Blades fans would not necessarily be prepared to give Sean the time he has been given here.''

O`Driscoll is the bookies favourite to take over from Gary Speed at Bramall Lane after Speed left to take over the Wales national job.

Rovers would demand a huge compensation package from Sheffield if they are to prize O`Driscoll away from the Keepmoat.

O`Driscoll was one of the favourites to take over at Burnley in January and after holding discussions with the Turf Moor club, who were in the Premier League at the time, they were scared of by Rovers compensation demands.

I think we need to face up to the fact that it wont be long before O'Driscoll goes. It might not be Sheff Utd but someone sooner or later will get him.

I think you've got a fair point and I really dont think Sheff Utd is the right move for O'Driscoll. Will take time for him to sort out the side and I don't think he will get it.

every single blade in the country wants SOD desperately. Its obvious he wants to come to a bigger club that can go places if managed properly. SOD can do this no problem. He has more to work with at the lane and he will turn the acadamy into a full flowing tallent show. the potential at the lane is far greater than at donny.....SOD has taken little old donny as far as he can possibly take them. he will be given a lengthy contract and we will probably double his wages....blades fans will back him to the hilt and if we go down then we go down but at least we have the right manager which is something blades fans have not been able to say for many years!! To manage a big club with a big fan base, and a £25m acadamy + a lot more will prove to be just too good for SOD to turn down. He can keep his family routed......the only difference being he will be the manager of a premiership club...and he will succeed next season im sure!!! COME ON SOD MAKE EVERY BLADES FANS XMAS AND SIGN FOR THE REGIONS BIGGEST AND BEST CLUB!!! UP THE BLADES!!

Forget about the compo you lot still owe us over 500k for offside billy...that im sure will come into play + he only has 6 months to run on his rolling contract anyway so legally ryan cannot demand a HUGE compensation package for him as reports suggest. at a tribunal you lot would be lucky to get 100k for him!!

1889, I hadn't really given the Sharp deal much thought, you could be right and that could become a huge part of the negotiations.

I wouldn't say he's got nothing at Donny, he's got the side and they are more than capable on their day of beating anyone in this Division. Will he want the pressures at Sheff Utd? He had job stability for years at Bournemouth and he's got a fantastic working relationship at Donny and the chairman thinks the world of him, so as the security at Rovers. What infastructure at Sheff Utd? Aren't you upto your eyeballs in debt and having to sell players in January?
