DRFC Rovers fined by FA

DRFC Rovers fined by FA

Doncaster Rovers have been handed a fine of £2,000 by the FA for their players conduct in the game at Leicester City recently.

Rovers players were incensed after Isle of Wight official James Linington awarded a penalty against them on the stroke of half time.

Video replays clearly showed that Neil Sullivan claimed the ball with Leicester winger Lloyd Dyer going over his body.

A number of Rovers players surrounded the referee to protest against the decision with a few laying hands on the official.

Its particularly incensed the Rovers chairman John Ryan who was shocked by the decision by the FA, speaking on Sky Sports News, Ryan said, "We was subjected to the worst penalty decision I have ever come across in fifty years of watching football."

Ryan as always prided himself on the fact that the players at his club respect referees and do not usually argue against decisions.

The chairman could however understand the player`s frustrations with this decision, "When a decision is so absolutely shocking a referee can`t really expect the players to behave themselves.
"If anyone should be in the dock it should be the referee," he continued.

Rovers are the current fair play award winners in the Championship for their excellent disciplinary record during the 2009/10 season.

Ryan as been continuously annoyed by refereeing decisions that have gone against Rovers since their promotion to the Championship in 2008 and believes they are constantly the victims of 'small club syndrome` against the bigger clubs in the division.

Rovers players were out of order but like Ryan said the decision was shocking. No wonder thet got angry. How many times do you see big clubs in the Premier League like Man Utd do the same thing and get no repercussion?

The referee should be fined and demoted to non league football. I can understand why the players went mad and it changed the total outlook of the game.
