DRFC Ryan - O'Driscoll has spoken to Sheff United

DRFC Ryan - O'Driscoll has spoken to Sheff United

Doncaster Rovers chairman John Ryan now says that Sean O`Driscoll has been in talks with Sheffield United just 24 hours after saying there had been no contact.

Speaking on Sky Sports News, Ryan said, "I believe he has had some talks with them, but I am very confident he will stay with us.
"When he (O`Driscoll) looks at the pros and cons I am very hopeful that he will come down on our side, but of course you never know."

Ryan was also annoyed about the fact that Sheffield United don`t intend to name a new manager until the New Year, "It`s a bit annoying because really Sheffield United should have either got on with it or forgotten about it." He continued.

So it seems that this one could rumble on for a while yet and it could make for an interesting clash between the two sides when they meet at Bramall Lane on January 3rd.

I think the fact that Ryan seems to be making a different statement every day means he is very worried about losing O'Driscoll.

I think sometimes he should keep quiet, I am sure he's just trying to keep everyone upto date but his interview today sounds like he doesn't know whats happening. Surely he should know whether O'Driscoll has spoken to Sheff Utd or not.

I have seen a statement on the Doncaster official webssite and nothing in that says to me he's definitely staying at the Keepmoat. Even Sky Sports News are saying he's turned down Sheff Utd.

we wanted him and i think he wanted to come...but by the sounds of it he has been put off with all the negativity surrounding the club at the moment and john ryan has been very clever in all of this too!!

I sometimes have to laugh at the arrogance of so called bigger clubs. To think that O'Driscoll would want to join Sheffield United because its sheffield United is laughable. You maybe have a bigger fan base and a better history but Rovers have the stability and the squad in place at the moment to challenge for promotion, something I don't think United have. According to reports you haven't got two coins to rub together, whilst our chariman and his directors have dipped into their own pockets to take Sharp off your hands and turn him into a decent striker again. And don't try and come back with you still owe us money for him, thats common practice between football clubs, nobody, even the biggest clubs in the world pay for a player outright straight away.

Although Ryan once again gave permission like he did last year with Burnley he gets around the media and lets it be known that he really doesn't want his manager to leave.
