DRFC Rovers sign Kilgallon from Sunderland

Doncaster Rovers have signed Matt Kilgallon on loan until the end of the season.

The defender joins Rovers from Sunderland, although he has been on loan at fellow Championship side Middlesbrough for the first past of this season.

The 27 year old was due to spend the season at Middlesbrough but failed to hold down a regular starting place at the Teesside club and returned to Sunderland.

Kilgallon is an experienced central defender who as played for Leeds, West Ham, Sheffield United, Sunderland and Middlesbrough so far during his career and he has also won five caps for the England under 21 side.

Kilgallon has been allocated the number 27 shirt during his stay at the Keepmoat.

He could be a good signing if his back holds out. I hope that he comes in and takes control of the defence.

Thats his problem, been dogged by injuries most of his career or he could have played at the really highest level.

my god what a signing...carn't believe you have pulled this off. best defender we have had in years we gave him away at 2m...should have been more like 6m but typical blades syndrome again giving players away on the cheap!!!....why the hell we didnt go in for him i'll never know....we are desperate at the back.

I believe Sheff Utd did but he chose Rovers ahead of a number of clubs.

What a coup this is to get him for the rest of the season. We have been crying out for a centre back of his quality all season.

A brilliant signing, Rovers have had no problem scoring this season so if they can start keeping clean sheets with a good defence then the play offs beckon.
