DRFC A view from Vital Oxford - Ryan Burge

DRFC A view from Vital Oxford - Ryan Burge

Vital Oxford editor Tel Boy has taken the time to answer a few questions about Ryan Burge who had a short loan spell with Oxford towards the end of the season.

Burge signed for Rovers on a short-term deal in January and he has been offered a new deal by the club.

Had you heard of Burge prior to him signing for Oxford and what did you think of his signing when it was announced?
He played in the reserves prior to signing and we found out during that match he was from the Glenn Hoddle academy. When he signed I thought, one for the future but won't make an impact this season.

What did you think of Burge during his time at the Oxford Utd?
To be fair when he made his first team debut, having seen in him the reserves I was a little shocked as I did not think he was ready. But glad to say I was proved wrong. He played in a midfield of three central midfield players and played really well. In that formation he did look quality.

What were his strength's and weaknesses?
In this role he made some good runs into attacking positions. His passing was good. However, if I had to pick a weakness it would be on his defensive duties. However, really he was very good.

Would you have liked him to stay at Oxford United?
He looked very good to be fair so yes I think we would have liked to see more of him.

Did the Oxford fans come up with any good chants or nicknames for Burge?
No I don't think he was with us long enough to get a nickname or chant.

Thanks for your thoughts Tel.

He's signed a new deal at Donny, will be interesting to see if he gets much action in the early part of the season.
