DRFC Coppinger unfazed by bookies

Doncaster Rovers midfielder James Coppinger isn`t too worried about being installed as bookies favourites for relegation next season.

The clubs Players Player of the Year last season can see why the bookies have them installed as favourites for the drop. Speaking in the Doncaster Star, Coppinger said, "I suppose the bookies` were always going to make us one of the favourites to be relegated in view of the fact that we finished fourth bottom last season. "But I personally don`t read too much into such things at this time of the year.

Coppinger prefers to draw on the success of the unfancied clubs in the Championship over the past few seasons.

Last season Norwich City and Swansea City were not amongst the bookies favourites for promotion but both clubs will be lining up in the Premier League next season.

"I think that the Championship is one of those divisions which is really hard to call.
"I think anyone can win promotion as has been proved in the last two years," he continued.

They follow the likes of Hull City, Burnley and Blackpool who have all won promotion to the Premier League in recent seasons. They were all amongst the outsiders for promotion at the start of the season.

Its understandable why the bookies have Rovers as favourites for relegation after the way the second half of the season went. Rovers need to be very active in the transfer market this summer.
