'If It's Football, It's Vital'

DRFC New players on the way?

Doncaster Rovers are set to sign Sheffield Wednesday defender Tommy Spurr according to a number of sources.

One red top tabloid newspaper even claimed on Friday that he had already signed for a fee in the region of £200,000.

The 23 year old as been a regular in the Wednesday side since making his debut in April 2006.

The left back as now made over 200 appearances for the Owls and made thirty-one appearances for the club last season.

If the rumours are true then it would seem unlikely that Joseph Mills will be returning to the Keepmoat after he enjoyed a successful loan spell from Southampton last season.

Rovers are also rumoured to be ready to sign Bury attacking midfield player Kyle Bennett.

The 20 year old is out of contract at Gigg Lane and Rovers are one of a number of Championship clubs chasing his signature.

I've always liked the look of Spurr whenever I have seen him play. Wednesday fans seem to think he needs a new enviroment. The lad Bennett from Bury is supposed to be lightning fast at Bury fans are really disappointed that he looks like he's leaving.

It looks like the deal for Spurr is already done and dusted. John Ryan was saying in the week that Rovers would be announcing their first signing this week.
