Rovers will not be signing Derek Asamoa. The ex-Chester, Lincoln City & Northampton striker has not won himself a contract at Belle Vue despite playing well in the pre-season matches so far.

Dave Penney explained his decision to BBC Radio Sheffield: 'With Derek we just felt we had too many like him in the building, we've got Lewis Guy, and Jonathan Forte now. If he's have been a big 'un we'd have probably taken him... I'm not quite sure what his position is... we just didn't feel we could see an end product in him.'
