DRFC Familiar face returning to Rovers

Doncaster Rovers fans will see a familiar face in the Tranmere Rovers dugout when the sides meet in the Carling Cup at the Keepmoat in August.

Tearing onto the pitch to treat the injured Tranmere players will be newly appointed physiotherapist Gregg Blundell.

The 33 year old retired from playing at the end of last season with Barrow in the Blue Square Premier League, where he gained his chartered physiotherapist qualifications.

During the second half of last season, he combined playing for Barrow and being the clubs physio.

Blundell enjoyed just over two seasons at Belle Vue, helping the club back into the Football League in 2003 after joining the club in April.

The following season he was the clubs top scorer with 18 goals, including their first goal back in the Football League as they raced to the championship in Division Three.

Blundell was transferred to Chester City in the summer of 2005 after scoring 32 goals in 96 appearances for Rovers.

He returns to Tranmere after starting his career with the Wirral club as a trainee in 1994.

Good to see he's sorted out a career still in the game now that his playing days are over.

I am shocked to see he's become a physio. At least he will be quick getting onto the pitch.
