DRFC Rovers hoping to recruit former loan player

Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O`Driscoll is in talks with former loan player Chris Brown`s representatives about a return to the club.

The 26 year old is out of contract after being released by Preston North End at the end of last season.

Brown enjoyed a successful loan spell with his hometown club, in Rovers 2003/04 promotion season, when he netted on ten occasions in twenty-two appearances as they secured the Division Three title.

O`Driscoll confirmed that the club are in negotiations with Brown, speaking in the Doncaster Free Press, O`Driscoll said, "We`ve spoken to his agent and we`re in the process of trying to work something out that will suit both parties.
"Chris knows the town and the club and he`s someone we`re keen to get on board.
"Talks are ongoing - we`ll see what develops over the next few days."

The striker started his career at Sunderland where he went on to make over 60 appearances in a four-year stay at the Stadium of Light and helped them clinch the Division One title in 2004/05 and again in 2006/07.

He was loaned out to Doncaster during his time at Sunderland and also had a spell at Hull City.

Brown joined Norwich City and spent a year at Carrow Road before being sold to Preston in January 2008.

He was a regular in his two and a half years at Deepdale making 120 appearances and scoring 18 goals.

Brown scored in two of his three appearances for Preston at the Keepmoat.

His father Alan Brown also spent time at Doncaster and was part of Billy Brenner`s squad during the 1983/84 season.
