DRFC Preston view - Chris Brown Q & A

Doncaster Rovers have signed Chris Brown from Preston on a two-year deal and North End fan Dampne as answered a few questions on his time during two years at Deepdale.

Were you disappointed to see him leave?
No, not really. I was surprised we signed him from Norwich for 400,000. As all Norwich fans said, he was crap.
When he first signed, he was class and was a big factor in us turning our season around and stopping up. Although he doesn`t score enough, if he did he would be worth millions.
After his first 15 games or so he was consistently out injured with a string of related injuries.
Lots of back trouble, putting insoles in his boots and lots of 'managing' injuries. Overall, I am not sad to see him go, as he was never an established first team player for us. He scored two class goals for us, against Charlton a couple of seasons back, and Norwich this year.
Unfortunately, for him and us these goals seem to come as a surprise to him and the fans.
I feel that it is too late for him to add extra dimensions to his game. Although I feel, he is a solid championship mid table striker. I am not sad to see him go. He probably wanted a hefty wage and he could be replaced this season fairly cheaply with the same quality (big striker holding ball up but doesn`t score that often). Best of luck to him though.

Where do you think it went wrong for him at Preston?

Injuries, not sure exactly but would be confident to say that he spent at least the same amount of time injured as fit.

What are his strength`s and weaknesses?
First touch is class, holding up ball is good. Poor finishing, positioning and constantly injured. He constantly gives free kicks away and grabs his face as if he is completely innocent which becomes very annoying.

Did you have any chants for him?
No, he wasn`t around enough to establish himself. He was more of a 'could be' than a first teamer.

Thanks for your views Dampne.

It looks like fitness is the key issue which is all Rovers need with their injury record. If he can keep himself fit I can see him being the perfect partner for Sharp.

I think he will work well with Sharp. Brown can put himself about leaving Sharp to do the damage.
