DRFC Players told to strengthen up
Doncaster Rovers players have been told to strengthen up to avoid injuries following the inquest into Rovers horrendous injury problems last season.
At one stage last season, Rovers had fourteen players on the sidelines that saw them drop from possible promotion candidates to the brink of relegation in 2011.
Speaking in the Doncaster Free Press, Rovers club physio John Dickens said, "The emphasis this season will be on strength and conditioning programmes.
"We will try and work on getting the lads physically stronger.
"We knew when we came up to this league it was a stronger division in terms of the physical demands and we`ve doing this type of work with the players already - but this season we need to do more of it."
After the club held an inquest at the end of last season, Dickens also revealed how the injuries occurred last season, with over half being caused by contact or twisting injuries when coming into contact with players from the opposition.
Worryingly a quarter of the injuries were caused by overstretching or slipping with most of these happening on the Keepmoat pitch.
Rovers still have seven players recovering from surgery with only Paul Keegan out of the seven having a realistic chance of being fit for the start of the new season.

They need to do something, its not conincidence all these injuries.

I honestly believe its more to do with the playing surface at the Keepmoat. It's only since we have moved there that the injuries have stacked up.
