DRFC Striker joins Silkmen

Macclesfield Town have signed Doncaster Rovers striker Waide Fairhurst on a two-year deal.

The 22 year old has signed for the League Two side stating that a lack of first team opportunities at the Keepmoat was the reason behind his move.

Fairhurst came through the youth ranks at Doncaster and made his debut against Coventry City towards the end of the 2008/09 season.

The striker scored inside ten minutes in his first start for the club the following season at West Bromwich Albion.

He made thirteen appearances during three seasons at Rovers, netting twice.

His lack of first team opportunities have also seen him enjoy loan spells at Shrewsbury Town, Southend United and Hereford United, where he spent the last three months of last season.

Good luck to him, I always felt he would do well givena run of games in the side but it never happened.

Disappointed!! He's now been given a fair chance! He looked our best player v Armthorpe. couple of seasons ago he had 3 games because of Hayter's injury and scored twice against Ipswich and WBA!! To me, our loss is definately Macc's gain!! :(

I wish him all the best. O'Driscoll once said he was a talent and one for the future.Obviously not at Rovers.

Good luck to him. He was never given his chance at Rovers even when the established first teamers wer'nt performing.
