Rovers held by County

On a hot Tuesday evening, Rovers were held by a struggling Notts County who at times pushed Rovers in their own half for long spells of the game. However it was Rovers who took the lead after only a few minutes into the game when Heffernan lobbed the on-rushing keeper after a error from the County defence. Rovers failed to build on this and the home side struck back after a defensive mix up between the rovers back line and Blayney which enabled Duffield to poke the ball home over the sliding Blayney. Then County pushed on and a superb individual effort from Parkinson gave the home team the advantage coming up to the interval.

After the break new loan signing Forte came on for Heffernan to give rovers a fresh importece up-front. With his direct running Rovers looked more dangerous and it was from good work between Forte and Coppinger enabled Jason Price to lash the ball home at the far post. After this there were few meaning full chances apart from Bruce Dyer had sprang his marker and lashed a fizzing shot onto the post.
This was a game overall which neither team looked capable of winning but never the less Doncaster did look extremly comfortable in possesion and in particular Horlock spraying some superb balls across the pitch. So all is looking forward to the start of the season.
