DRFC Season Review 2010/11 - May

Doncaster Rovers finished their season with a trip to the Riverside to face Middlesbrough, safe in the knowledge that they had preserved their championship place already.

The month of May starts with James Coppinger winning the fans player of the year.

Middlesbrough inflict a 3-0 defeat on Rovers. The club finish one place above the relegation places in twenty-first place.

At the clubs awards dinner, James Coppinger wins the players player of the year and leading goalscorer Billy Sharp wins the player of the year award.

The two are then the targets of Ipswich Town. The Tractor Boys offer 2.6 million for the pair, which Rovers turn down.

Rovers release Byron Webster, Dennis Souza, Wayne Thomas and Steve Brooker from the club.

Webster is quickly on the move signing for League Two side Northampton Town.

Paul Keegan signs a new short-term deal at the Keepmoat and Neil Sullivan, Sam Hird, Ryan Burge and James Chambers are also offered new deals.

Rovers announce their first pre season friendly when they will travel to Armthorpe Welfare in the first week of pre season.

They quickly add two more with trips to Mansfield Town and Sheffield United pencilled in.

Another season review is complete as we get ready for the first game of next season when Rovers become the first ever league visitors to Brighton and Hove Albion`s new Amex Stadium on Saturday.
