DRFC O'Driscoll preparing for toughest season yet

Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O`Driscoll admits the club face their toughest challenge yet to maintain their position in the championship.

Rovers are the bookies favourites for the drop after finishing just one place above the relegation zone last season.

O`Driscoll is now trying to plot a way to keep Rovers in the championship for a fourth consecutive season but he realises it`s going to be difficult.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Post , O`Driscoll said, "On the face of it, this is going to be the biggest challenge the club has had for some time. It is getting harder and harder.
"Last season I said that the squad was not strong enough and we are not as strong as we were last season. It`s proving to be really difficult to try and manage the football club with the resources we have got, to try and be competitive in the division."

O`Driscoll has strengthened his squad during the summer, signing experienced defender Richard Naylor after his release from Leeds United.

He`s also brought in striker Chris Brown from Preston North End and defender Tommy Spurr from Sheffield Wednesday.

Three promising youngsters have also moved to the Keepmoat, with Kyle Bennett from Bury, James Baxendale from Leeds and Ryan Mason on a season long loan from Tottenham Hotspur arriving.

The sides downfall last season was their crippling injury list and they already have seven players missing for the start of the season, with Captain Brian Stock as well as Martin Woods, James Chambers, Mark Wilson, Adam Lockwood, James O`Connor and Paul Keegan all on the sidelines.

Rovers face a tricky start to the season with a trip to Brighton and Hove Albion followed by home game against West Ham United and Nottingham Forest.

Lets just hope we can keep players fit this season, we are already starting with seven or eight on the sidelines.
