DRFC Rovers sign young defender

Doncaster Rovers have completed the signing of defender Oscar Radford.

The defender has been on trial at the Keepmoat during the summer and has signed a five-month contract with the club.

The 18 year old has spent two years in Hungary with top side Ferencvaros.

Radford is a Yorkshire born lad, heralding from Rotherham and he came through the academy at Sheffield United.

Radford is happy to sign for Rovers after contacting assistant manager Richard O`Kelly about the possibility of a trial during the summer.

Speaking on the official website, Radford said, 'I'm glad to be here. When I came back Hungary, I rang Richard O'Kelly to see if it was possible to get a week's trial because I see Rovers as a big club.
'I signed for them [Ferencvaros] for two years as a 16-year-old and matured a lot over there. When the opportunity came to sign here, though, I couldn't let it slip."

The club have still to announce whether fellow trialist Rachid Bouhenna will be joining the club, after Rovers boss Sean O`Driscoll reported earlier in the week that they were in negotiations with the player and his agent.

The youngster becomes the seventh player to sign for Rovers during the summer as they aim to defy the bookies that have them as favourites for relegation.

Can't see him getting in the first team. I think O'Driscoll will loan him out and have him watched to see if he's worth a longer deal.
