DRFC O'Driscoll delighted to still have Sharp

Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O`Driscoll is delighted to be starting the season with Billy Sharp in the squad.

Sharp has been the target of clubs during the summer with Ipswich Town having a £2.3 million bid turned down for the striker.

Rovers accepted a bid from Southampton in excess of £3 million but Sharp decided to stay at Rovers.

O`Driscoll is delighted that he is still with the club but accepts it will only be a matter of time before they lose him. Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, O`Driscoll said, "I`m delighted that we have kept him because he makes a big difference to the team, he`s a goalscorer and in this division you need a goalscorer and you need as many good players as you can.
"We are quite philosophical about the fact that we know we will eventually lose him but he will walk out at Brighton on Saturday."

Sharp is the clubs record transfer fee after he joined the club for £1.15 million last summer from Sheffield United after enjoying a successful season long loan at the Keepmoat.

The 25 year old has finished as top scorer in his two seasons at Doncaster, netting 31 goals in total.
