DRFC O'Driscoll - Rovers outstanding in defeat

Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O`Driscoll felt his sides performance was outstanding despite going down to another defeat, this time against Nottingham Forest.

Rovers lost 1-0 to Forest and have yet to pick up a point from three championship games this season, their worst start to a season since 1997/98.

Once again, Rovers put in a good performance, similar to the one against West Ham at the weekend but without Billy Sharp and James Hayter, they lack a killer instinct in the final third of the pitch.

Speaking after the defeat, O`Driscoll speaking on the official website said, "I thought we were outstanding in the second half against West Ham, and I thought we carried on tonight for 90 minutes, which is some feat in the championship."

Rovers suffered a similar fate in their first season in the championship, when despite playing some excellent football they found themselves bottom at Christmas having scored just eleven goals in their first twenty-four games.

O`Driscoll is hoping that the players luck will change and is sure if they continue to create chances it will, "All we can do now is keep trying to create chances; they (the players) have a great deal of belief in what they try to do," he continued.

Rovers will be hoping that their luck can change at the weekend when they travel to Pride Park to face Derby County.

The ground has been something of a happy hunting ground in the championship for Rovers since their promotion to the championship in 2008.

Rovers kicked off their first season back in the second tier of English football for over 50 years with a 1-0 opening day win at Derby thanks to a solitary strike from Lewis Guy.

The following season they came away with all three points in a 2-0 win thanks to strikes from Billy Sharp and James Coppinger.

Last season Rovers recorded their only win in their final sixteen games with a 3-1 win. Billy Sharp was again on target, scoring twice and another strike from Joseph Mills secured the win.

Rovers continue to search for a new striker to bolster the squad for the Derby trip having failed to sign one before the Forest game.
