DRFC Naylor - A win will breed confidence

Doncaster Rovers defender Richard Naylor is hoping that a win in the Carling Cup against one of his former clubs Leeds United will give the players confidence to take into the league.

Rovers are the only side in the championship still without a point after losing their opening four games of the season.

The sides only win so far this season came in the first round of the competition when they defeated Tranmere Rovers.

Naylor is hoping that a win tonight against their Yorkshire rivals will breed confidence throughout the side. Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Naylor said, "It`s important to win games. We managed it in the last round of the cup and hopefully we can do it again. The league form hasn`t been what we have wanted, just for a confidence point of view, winning games breeds` confidence and that`s what we need at the moment."

This will be the first time that Naylor as lined up against his former side after being released by Leeds in the summer and he knows it will be a tough encounter. "I watched them on the TV on Sunday and I think they showed what a good side they are. We know it`s going to be tough but it`s a game we will go into and try and win," he continued.

The 34 year old only signed a short-term deal at the Keepmoat and he will be hoping to show enough to earn a new contract from Rovers boss Sean O`Driscoll.
