DRFC Saunders - We had a bit of luck

New Doncaster Rovers boss Dean Saunders was delighted to see his new side win even though he felt they didn`t deserve to win but they had a bit of luck, something that`s been deserting Rovers this year.

Rovers came from behind to win 2-1 at Peterborough on Saturday, thanks to second half goals from Brian Stock and Kyle Bennett.

The result lifted Rovers off the foot of the table and into twentieth position, after making it seven points in three games since Saunders arrival.

Saunders admitted after the game that he didn`t think Rovers deserved the three points after coming under intense pressure from Peterborough, especially in the first half. Speaking after the game, Saunders said, "Everything has started well and getting off the bottom of the table is a massive boost. We will be able to attract new players on the strength of these three points even though I didn`t think we deserved to win. I don`t care because that`s seven points now. Peterborough over-ran us in the first half and we had to fight just to stay in the game. We did that, had a bit of luck and got the result."

Saunders now has almost two weeks to work with his new players due to the international break before they are next in action.

The next game with Leeds United at the Keepmoat on October 14th will have a national audience with the game being shown live on Sky Sports.

Rovers will be looking to avenge a Carling Cup defeat at the hands of Leeds earlier in the season, when they let an early lead slip before eventually losing 2-1.
