DRFC Owls and Man Utd friendlies arranged

New Doncaster Rovers boss Dean Saunders has arranged two behind closed doors friendlies this week as he continues to assess his new squad.

Rovers will play South Yorkshire neighbours Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday before playing Premier League giants Manchester United on Friday with no championship game until October 14th due to the international break.

With the squad slowly moving towards full fitness, with a number of players returning from injury, it will give Saunders the opportunity to look at those players who have yet to feature in the first team since his arrival.

Saunders is looking forward to seeing what those that haven`t been picked yet can do, when he commented, 'The players who I haven't picked yet must be disappointed and I have to thank them for making my job a bit easier and accepting not getting selected, or sitting on the bench, by not moaning and groaning. I've only been at the club for eight days (prior to Saturday's game) so I'm still trying to find out about everybody and I've said I'll try and give them a chance but that they've got to be professional. It's not about who is on the pitch; it's not about bringing people on, it's all about the team.'

The two games will also see a number of trialists involved, with Blackburn Rovers midfielder Herold Goulon one of those who is going to be involved.

Saunders arranged a behind closed doors friendly in his first week at the Keepmoat as they beat Chesterfield 3-2 with Goulon being involved.

Rovers have made a great start under the new tenure of Saunders, picking up seven points from a possible nine since his arrival.

The game with Man Utd will probably be against most of their youngsters I would have thought.
