DRFC Ryan - We had to change our approach

Doncaster Rovers chairman John Ryan insists there are no new investors at the club despite a couple of high profile signings and also being linked with a number of other players.

Since the arrival of Dean Saunders as new boss, Rovers have brought in French international Pascal Chimbonda and Congolese international Herita Ilunga, who were both plying their trade in the Premier League last season.

Rovers have also been linked with a number of players who have played at the highest level including former Real Madrid player Mahamadou Diarra who was released by Monaco at the end of last season. QPR defender Danny Shittu, Newcastle midfielder Dan Gosling and West Ham striker Frederic Piquionne are also being linked with a move to the Keepmoat.

The activity has had Rovers fans wondering where the extra funds are coming from, but Ryan insists there are no new investors at the club and it is him and his fellow directors who have decided to change their approach with Rovers struggling at the wrong end of the table.

Speaking in the Doncaster Free Press, Ryan said, "We had to change our approach.
"We were going down without a trace - and myself and the directors weren`t prepared to stand by and let that happen.
"Dean`s come in and it`s been a fantastic turnaround. But that`s only the start.
"There are no extra funds. What we are doing is using our contacts to help us out. "

Despite the new signings and links with other players, it is the squad inherited by Dean Saunders that have taken seven points from a possible nine since his arrival, to move off the foot of the table and outside the bottom three.
