New loan signing Herita Ilunga is looking forward to his loan spell at Doncaster Rovers and he is hoping to get his career back on track after a stop start career at West Ham United.
Ilunga has made just 34 appearances for the hammers since the start of the 2009/10 season after making 39 appearances in his first season with the club during 2008/09.
The defender brings a wealth of experience to the Keepmoat having previously played in the champions League with French side Toulouse and represented Congo 19 times at international level.
Ilunga has joined Rovers on loan until January and he is hoping that he can do enough to see Rovers extend the deal until the end of the season.
Speaking in the Doncaster Star, Ilunga said, "I am very happy to be here. We have a very good team and some good footballers and I am here to add to the team and to do what the manager wants me to do.
"It is a chance for me to get my career back on track. The deal is for three months and I hope I can do well and stay all season. I would have signed for the whole season.
"I have to play well during this three months and after that we will see what happens."
The 29 year old was a regular at the start of the season for West Ham, starting the first four games, including against Rovers at the Keepmoat, but he then fell behind George McCartney in the pecking order for the left back slot.
His last appearance for the hammers came as a substitute in the Carling cup defeat to Aldershot towards the end of August.
Meanwhile Rovers boss Dean Saunders is grateful to West Ham for allowing the defender to join the club for a fraction of the wages he is on at Upton Park but cannot see him staying beyond his three-month loan spell.
Saunders, also speaking in the Doncaster Star said, "We can`t afford to bring him for the whole season. What we have managed to get him here for is unbelievable. I`ve used my contacts and I would like to thank West Ham for letting us have him for a sixth of his wages. He is earning a lot less than the players who are here. "
Ilunga was involved in both of Rovers behind closed doors friendlies this week and he will be pushing for a place in the side, for Friday night`s championship clash against Leeds United at the Keepmoat.
