DRFC Rovers sign former England goalkeeper

Doncaster Rovers have continued their signing spree under new boss Dean Saunders with the capture of goalkeeper Chris Kirkland.

The goalkeeper has signed on loan until the New Year from Wigan Athletic and he will go straight into the squad for Friday night`s game with Leeds United.

The 30 year old is an experienced Premier League goalkeeper having played for Coventry City, Liverpool, West Brom and Wigan Athletic and he has also made one appearance for England in 2006.

Kirkland joins Pascal Chimbonda and Herita Ilunga in signing for Rovers since the arrival of Dean Saunders.

Injuries have proved a problem for him in his career. I think he would have been an England regular if not for injury. A great signing for Rovers.

What will happen with Gary Woods now? He was being linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer, he's now third choice at Rovers.
