DRFC McKay to bring stars to the Keepmoat!

DRFC McKay to bring stars to the Keepmoat!

Doncaster Rovers have struck up a deal with football agent Willie McKay, which will see him working as a consultant at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The agent, who lives in the Doncaster area has signed a two year deal with Doncaster to work for the club.

McKay is reportedly working for £100 a week with Doncaster and he will have the say on who arrives and leaves the club.

McKay will use his contacts to bring a number of high profile players to the club who are currently struggling to gain first team football with the club they are contracted to.

Rovers will sign the players on short-term deals so that they will get the opportunity to put themselves in the shop window for a higher profile move back into the Premier League.

Rovers have already brought players with Premier League and international experience to the club since the arrival of McKay.

Pascal Chimbonda, Herita Ilunga and Chris Kirkland have all arrived at the Keepmoat since the arrival of new manager Dean Saunders.

McKay explained the situation in an interview in the Daily Mail and gave an example when talking about Rovers recent signing Herita Ilunga, when he said, "Take Herita Ilunga as an example. He`s on £26,000 a week at West Ham, not getting a game and they can`t get him a move. I called the joint-chairman David Sullivan and offered £1,000 a week to take Ilunga on loan. David laughed and said, "Make me a sensible offer", so I said, "OK, £500".
'Anyway, eventually we agree the deal on £2,000 a week and West Ham make up the rest of his wages. We take him at Doncaster, who are no threat to West Ham, and give him a shop window to perform by playing every week.
'If he plays well and I get him a move, say to Turkey for £5m, then I`ll reach an agreement with David Sullivan about the fee West Ham will receive, plus my commission, less his full £26,000-a-week salary for the period he was at Doncaster."

Since his arrival, Rovers have been linked with a number of high profile players including El Hadji Diouf, Mahamadou Diarra and even Carlos Tevez.

"In every squad there are two or three good players who aren`t getting a game for whatever reason. We will take them to Doncaster, put them in the shop window and sell them on with sell-on fees. Mahamadou Diarra has a c.v. with Monaco, Real Madrid
and Lyon on it. I`ve told him if he comes to Doncaster he will be with us for six months before he`s playing in the Premier League," he continued.

McKay has already had his working relationship with Doncaster cleared by the Football Association after writing to them to explain the working arrangement between the two parties.

I cannot make my mind up whether I am excited or really worried. My big concerns are that these players coming in are obviously using it just as a stepping stone. How many is McKay going to bring in because other clubs have shown in the past that it takes time for players to gel together to turn into a good side. Look at Leicester this season and Middlesbrough last. Also what will happen with bringing in other players? Ones that Rovers want to sign on two and three year deals. Just what and who could be at the Keepmoat in two years time?
