DRFC Ipswich v Doncaster Head To Head

Doncaster Rovers travel to Ipswich Town on Saturday and a visit to Portman Road.

Vital Doncaster looks at the head to head record between the two at Ipswich over the years.

This will only be the sixth ever meeting between the two sides at Ipswich.

In the previous five, Ipswich have won three, Doncaster one and one draw.

The first encounter between the two sides was in 1954 when Ipswich won 5-1.

Three seasons later, they met again, with Ipswich again winning, this time 2-0.

The two clubs then had to wait over 50 years before the crossed swords again.

Rovers came out victorious when they won 3-1 thanks to goals from Gareth Roberts, Paul Heffernan and James Hayter.

The following season the points were shared in a 1-1 draw. Both goals came inside the final twenty minutes. Connor Wickham fired Ipswich ahead before Dean Shiels equalised from the penalty spot for Doncaster.

When the two sides met last season Billy Sharp fired Doncaster into an early lead. David Norris and Wickham put the hosts ahead. Sharp equalised for Doncaster almost immediately only for Carlos Edwards to score a third goal in four minutes to clince the points for Ipswich.
