DRFC Rovers face daunting task

DRFC Rovers face daunting task

Doncaster Rovers have been handed the daunting task of a trip to Chelsea in the FA Youth Cup Third Round.

Chelsea have won the cup three times since it was first played in 1953.

Their last win came in 2010 and they were also beaten finalists in 2008.

The Chelsea side that won the tournament in 2010 featured Milan Lalkovic, who has enjoyed a successful loan spell with Doncaster this season.

Doncaster went out at the same stage last season when Middlesbrough defeated them 4-2 after extra time at the Keepmoat.

Doncaster enjoyed their best run in the competition during the 1987/88 season when they were beaten finalists.

Arsenal defeated Doncaster 6-1 on aggregate who had a young Kevin Campbell in their side.

Campbell netted a hat trick for Arsenal in the first leg at Belle Vue in a season when he netted 59 times.

Doncaster battled to a 1-1 draw at Highbury in the second leg.

Included in the Doncaster side that season were Paul Raven, Mark Rankine, Rufus Brevett and Steve Gaughan.

The tie is due to played over the weekend of December 17/18th.
