DRFC Atkins delighted to keep versatile defender

Matlock Town manager Mark Atkins is delighted to be keeping Doncaster Rovers defender Oscar Radford for a further month on loan.

Doncaster born Atkins, who is also a former Doncaster player, is full of praise for the young defender and says he has done a great job for the side in a number of different positions since first arriving in October.

Speaking in the Matlock Mercury, Atkins said, "Oscar`s done great for us, he`s proved to be very versatile, being able to play right along the back four and he`s slotted into any position we`ve asked him to fill very well, so we`re delighted to have him at the club for another month. I`m sure all of our fans will be as pleased as we are that Oscar is staying here a bit longer."

Matlock have managed five clean sheets in his eight appearances in defence and he has also chipped in with a goal. An unstoppable 20 yard shot against Stamford.

They have lost just one game and have moved up into seventh place in the Northern Premier League.

Radford signed for Rovers on a short-term deal in the summer after a successful trial at the club.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Matlock sign him in January.

Will Rovers be entitled to any cash in January with his age?
