DRFC World cup winner turns down Rovers chance

Former Arsenal player Robert Pires has reportedly turned down the chance to join Doncaster Rovers.

The former Arsenal midfielder is currently without a club after being released by Aston Villa in the summer.

Talking on his Twitter page, Pires said, "Doncaster people called me! I am happy they think I can help them but it`s not in my plan to play there."

The 38 year old is vastly experienced and he has won both the World Cup and European championships with France. He has also won the Premier League and FA Cup during six seasons at Arsenal.

During his time with Arsenal he was also named the Football Writers Player of the Year in 2002.
