DRFC Barnsley v Doncaster Head To Head

Doncaster Rovers make the short trip to Barnsley on Saturday and we look back at the head-to-head record between the two at Oakwell.

The South Yorkshire rivals have met on 33 previous occasions with Barnsley winning 13, Doncaster 11 and 9 draws.

The first ever encounter between the two sides took place during the 1901/02 season when Barnsley won a Second Division clash 3-0.

Barnsley won the first three encounters at Oakwell before Doncaster tasted success for the first time with a 3-2 win during the 1932/33 season.

The games between the two sides are usually high scoring affairs with 98 goals being scored in the 33 encounters.

Barnsley enjoyed their best victory during the 2008/09 season when they won 4-1 after trailing 1-0 and being reduced to ten men.

Rovers have twice scored five with a 5-1 win during the 1965/66 season and a 5-2 Johnstone`s Paint Trophy win during the 2005/06 season.

When the two sides met last season, Jason Euell scored twice for Rovers in a 2-2 draw.

Rovers have won four and drawn one of the last six encounters at Oakwell.

Hopefully Rovers can take the win at Ipswich into this game. A little bit of a gap is beginning to appear so a decent run is essential.
