DRFC Villa lowdown on Habib Beye

Vital Doncaster Rovers have received the lowdown on new signing Habib Beye from two members of Vital Aston Villa.

KRS186 and Villan of the North have been good enough to answer a few questions about the defender who does not seem to have impressed them in his two years at Villa Park.

What we have though is a catchy song for the player when he appears in the red and white hoops.

Are you disappointed that Beye has not played much for you since his arrival in 2009?

KRS186 - No, he has looked terrible whenever he has played for us. Two stand out games are West Ham away, where he was absolutely dreadful and topped it off by getting sent off, and a home defeat to Wigan where his defending was very, very poor.

Villan of the North - Disappointed at the money wasted on him yes, disappointed that he's not played, no, not really. He's not good enough to be a first choice premier League defender. He is fine as back-up but the money he is reputedly`'earning` does not say back-up.

Is there any reason why he hasn`t been able to get a run of games?

KRS186 - To put it bluntly, because he was not good enough.

Villan of the North - Yes, he's not good enough.

Do you think he will be a good player in the championship?

KRS186 - Probably, but he strikes me as a man happy to sit around and collect an exorbitant wage for doing absolutely nothing, I believe they call this Bobo Balde syndrome. He is reported being paid up to £50,000 a week at Villa and has appeared in something like 9 games in two years. He has had multiple chances to leave, given it was clear that he was never going to play regularly for us, and after 3 consecutive managers not rating him, but he decided to stay put (not that I personally blame him for that). He will go down as one of the worst signings in the clubs history.

Villan of the North - It's about his level. If you have ambitions of promotion to the premier League then he should be seen as a stop-gap not a solution.

What are his strengths and weaknesses?

KRS186 - No Villa fan could honestly give you an assessment. Whenever he has played he has looked poor, so you'll be better off asking Newcastle fans, but of course he played for them a long time ago. When we signed him, the Toon Army told us that he was solid defensively and good going forward.

Villan of the North - He's a decent ball player with an eye for a pass but he's week defensively and gets easily pulled out of position (or at least that's what it looks like from the little we've seen of him)

Do you have any interesting chants for him that we can adopt for three month?

KRS186 -You could probably do something with the Happy Days theme tune.

Villan of the North - Sunday Monday Habib Beye, Tuesday Wednesday Habib Beye, Thursday Friday Habib Beye............ - To the tune of Happy Days.

Not great comments from the Villa fans, especially after he seemed to do so well at Newcastle.
