'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Doncaster Romp Home!

Dave Penney talked about his team in glowing terms as they thumped Aston Villa out of the Carling Cup.

The Doncaster boss said: 'We have been playing very well and to do that against a Premiership side was a great performance. Three-nil was a great scoreline for us. We just work hard. We play a high tempo and the form we are in we are looking sharp. It is just all clicking together at the moment.'

Doncaster are now in the quarter final draw and Penny doesn't care who they draw! In an interview with Sky Sports after the match he said 'It doesn't matter. Whoever you are going to get in the next round is going to be a massive team. It's got a buzz about the town.'

David O'Leary said after Aston Villa's exit from the Carling Cup to League One Doncaster: 'The better team on the night won and I can't argue with that. I can argue with one or two decisions, but I can't really say any more than that. I wouldn't say Doncaster surprised me. They're a good footballing side an they have been going well this season.'

Although the under pressure boss, who surely must be in great danger from the famous Villa chairman Doug Ellis' axe, pointed at key decisions that he felt went against his team. I must say, he can point all he wants, they were out played throughout the 90 minutes! He said they should have had a penalty when Baros claimed he was pulled down: 'That was a key moment. We might have pulled ourselves back into it at 2-1. Instead it was suddenly 3-0 and all over.'

Adding 'Now we have to pick ourselves up, show a bit of character and put this result and performance behind us.' If he is given the chance that is!
