'If It's Football, It's Vital'

DRFC Killie boss frustrated by lack of progress

Kilmarnock manager Kenny Shiels says he is struggling to make any headway with Doncaster Rovers over the extension of Dean Shiels loan at Rugby Park.

Shiels is keen to keep his son with the Scottish Premier League side when his loan ends on January 16th.

Dean joined Kilmarnock in August on a half season loan and he has been a regular in the side, making 21 appearances and scoring 6 goals.

Kenny Shiels could not hid his frustration in a recent interview, when he said, 'I'm talking away and trying to make some headway but there is no headway. It's really hard.'

The 26 year old has struggled to hold down a regular starting place at the Keepmoat since signing from Hibernian in 2009.

Last season Shiels made 35 appearances for Rovers with 18 of those coming from the substitute`s bench.

The Northern Ireland international is out of contract with Rovers in the summer.

I always liked Shiles. Can't see any point in him returning though.

He's done well at Kilmarnock. I always thought he was a player who needed to be playing regularly
