DRFC Defender wants to stay with Rovers

On loan defender Habib Beye says he would like to remain with Doncaster Rovers for the remainder of the season.

Beye joined Rovers on loan in November on a 93-day loan and he is due to go back to Villa Park on February 21st.

The Senegal international defender has been an ever present for Rovers since his arrival, making six appearances

Beye is now hoping to join Pascal Chimbonda and El Hadji Diouf in extending his deal at the Keepmoat.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Post , Beye said, "I don`t want to go back to Aston Villa. If I can stay here until the end of the season, that will suit me. This was a good opportunity and I like the project. I spoke with the manager, the chairman, and they all wanted to achieve something. It`s a great club and I made the choice to be part of it.'

The 34 year old has struggled to hold down a regular starting place in the Villa side since joining them in 2009 and unless another Premier League side comes in for him during the January transfer window he wants to stay and help Rovers pull away from the relegation zone. 'If anyone comes in for me in January, like a Premier League club, I have the authorisation to speak with them, but right now I am happy here and 100 per cent a Doncaster player.

"I am confident that we can stay up. The team is not in the right place in the table. We are better than bottom three but we have to work our way out," continued Beye.

Since his arrival, Rovers have picked up seven points from a possible eighteen to move off the bottom of the championship table.

Rovers and Beye travel to Watford today hoping to close the gap on those sides above them.
