DRFC Saunders - We need to roll our sleeves up

Doncaster Rovers boss Dean Saunders says they have to roll their sleeves up and get ready for Monday after slipping back to the foot of the championship table.

Rovers lost their New Year`s Eve clash at Watford 4-1 and Coventry City made it back to back wins to move back above Rovers.

Things were going ok at Watford until Herold Goulon was sent off with just under thirty minutes remaining.

Billy Sharp had pulled Rovers level early in the second half after Marvin Sordell had put the home side ahead shortly before half time.

The loss of Goulon changed the game and Sordell quickly restored the Watford lead.

With Rovers chasing the game in the final ten minutes, two more goals from John Eustace and Michael Kightly made it an unhappy New Year for Rovers.

Rovers are now five points from safety and Saunders says they have to roll their sleeves up and get ready for the South Yorkshire derby against Barnsley at the Keepmoat on Monday.

Speaking on the official website, Saunders said, "We seem to get into positions, like today, when we are right in the game then shoot ourselves in the foot. We`ve got to roll our sleeves up now and get ready for Monday."

The festive period has seen Rovers concede seven goals in two games at Burnley and Watford.

Rovers have shown improved home form of late and will be hoping to make it three wins in a row at the Keepmoat on Monday.

Six of Rovers next nine games are at the Keepmoat and if Rovers are to have any chance of staying up this season they must maintain their recent home form.
