DRFC Rovers accept bid from Leicester for Sharp

DRFC Rovers accept bid from Leicester for Sharp

Doncaster Rovers have accepted a bid from Leicester City for striker Billy Sharp.

The fee agreed has activated a clause in Sharp`s contract that allows him to talk to another club.

Sharp has netted ten goals in eighteen games so far this season for Rovers and he has been linked with a number of clubs during the January transfer window.

The 25 year old played no part in Rovers 2-0 FA Cup defeat to Notts County this afternoon.

Although the fee has been agreed, Sharp is yet to agree personal terms with the foxes.

Sharp turned down a move to Southampton in the summer despite Rovers and Saints agreeing a fee.

The striker has eighteen months remaining on his current Rovers contract.

Was expected but still gutted. What are you getting at 100percent, it doesn't make sense.

Thought it was more than a `rest` when he didn`t play.

Don't want him to go, but if its in his contract, then not much choice. One player doesn't make a team - he's ambitious so can't blame him for wanting to move on, rather than be constantly battling against relegation.

He might not join Leicester. There is plenty of time left this month for someone else to come in for him who are already in the Premier League. He's been known to turn down a move before so he might stay for a while yet. Am worried where the goals will come from when he leaves.

Leicester aren't that much higher in the league either, so hard to see them giving Sharp his wish of premier league football. Stoke or Wigan still have plenty of time to make an offer. Really hope he stays, at least until the end of this season, but can't see it.

He said in the week he would also join a team with Premier League ambition. With Sharp in their side I could see them getting into the top six. We should try and include Beckford coming to us on loan for the rest of the season as part of the deal.
