DRFC Shiels joins Kilmarnock after Rovers release

Doncaster Rovers have terminated the contract of midfielder Dean Shiels.

Shiels has spent the first half of the season on loan with Scottish Premier League side Kilmarnock who are managed by his dad Kenny Shiels.

The midfielder has made 18 appearances for Kilmarnock this season, scoring 6 goals and he has now signed for the Rugby Park side until the end of the season.

The 26 year old struggled to hold down a regular starting place at the Keepmoat since signing from Hibernian in 2009.

Last season Shiels made 35 appearances for Rovers with 18 of those coming from the substitute`s bench.

The Northern Ireland international would have been out of contract with Rovers in the summer.
